Devising and Character Work through Movement
I built the process for Prometheus Bound around four main techniques I have been working to combine into a singular devising and acting process: Princeton University's Flock Logic Project, choreographic phrase building exercises from Blom and Chaplin's The Intimate Act of Choreography, the Stanislavski Method of Physical Action, and Grotowski techniques.
Leading an ensemble of sixteen actors, I utilized these practices to create a cohesive movement and storytelling style for the entire production that bridges the gap between movement for the actor and modern dance.
Rehearsals culminated in an hour and a half long production heavily featuring dance and movement, singing, and metaphorical gesture.
This process built a strong ensemble with a great amount of trust in themselves and the directing team, resulting in an ability to work quickly and flexibly in staging Prometheus Bound at Texas State University.
